Hasn't seen the boy since he was a baby and his mother doesn't want him to. Physical description: Mal stands 6 feet tall in his stockinged feet, with dark-grey to white hair and intensely light blue eyes. He has a very stern looking face for most of the time, and when he breaks out into a smile it sometimes startles those who don't know him very well. Mal has a great smile which reaches his eyes and his laugh is warm and deep. He has a rather commanding tone of voice that says 'do as I say and do it now', and very few argue with him. Mal doesn't feel the need to raise his voice or shout to get his point across, but he has been known to yell at a few younger trainees once in a while. Mal is in decent physical shape for a man close to his seventies, but he suffered a stroke a year back causing weakness on his left side. If he is over tired, his dexterity is almost non-existant in his left hand and it has also affected his ability to change in animagus form at a moment's notice. He's just thankful it didn't affect his wand hand so he can still be an active member of the Watcher's. Which table do you belong in? Sometimes if you ask him a question, he won't answer you verbally - but instead give you a glare or grunt, then walk away. If you can't figure out what his answer is from that, then you have to figure it out for himself. He prefers to teach trainees by trusting them and not by showing them everything there is to know about a subject. Mal believes if you don't learn it yourself, then you truly don't learn. So if something is blatantly obvious, and you ask him a question about a topic he'll most likely tell you to find out yourself and stop wasting his time. Mal also has an undocumented set of rules which most think he makes up as he goes along. He's a tough nut to crack, but if you are able to get close to him you'll find that he is a loyal, trustworthy friend who will give you the shirt off his back and take a killing curse for you. Special abilities/strengths/flaws: (animagus, werewolf, part veela, exceptional in a certain field, seer, etc. Please be realistic and not a special snowflake) Mal is a registered animagus, which was useful when he was a Hunter in the Moonwatchers. His form is that of a Bull Mastif. Relevant backstory: (we're not looking for "she was born on a stormy night in 2000 ..." but a little backstory relevant to fitting into the game is lovely; you're encouraged to be vague regarding interactions with not-yet-cast characters) Isaac, Mal and Bastian were all in the same Ravenclaw year and grew up together. While Mal wasn't as close as Isaac and Bastian were, they were still all mates and looked out for one another. Still, Mal sometimes felt like the third wheel at times though he never said anything about it to his other two friends. As a muggleborn, during the first war Mal stayed in hiding in Scotland, not even telling Isaac and Bastian where he was. After news that Voldemort was killed by the small Potter-child, Mal came down from Scotland to reunite with his old friends. In 1985 Mal married his first wife, Justine and they had a child together - a daughter - in 1989, who they named Celesta. After the second war, Mal and Justine divorced. It was a very stressful time - with Isaac losing his son and both of them losing Bastian (though secretly Mal didn't mourn the loss of Anna as they never got along). In 2009 when Celesta was 20 she became a Watcher. In her first outing as a Watcher, the group was ambushed by werewolves and it is believed that Celesta was killed - taken by the wolves. Mal was crushed and Justine, of course, blamed him for their daughter's death. He still blames himself to this day. And then in 2013 he met and married Claire, and has a son with her in 2015 named Bryan. When she got a job offer in China, Mal didn't want to move with her and she wanted to take the position. They ended their marriage and reluctantly Mal agreed that Bryan should go with her. He hasn't seen his son since and really is a coward for letting Claire get in the way of seeing Bryan. Within the Watchers, there are two people whom Mal is a complete teddybear to - Acevona and Eva. Ace, because she's Bastian's daughter and Isaac's daughter and reminds him of his own daughter, and Eva because she's a plucky pain in the arse and Mal can't help but to love that about her. | |||||||||
